On a sad note.
Over this last year, unfortunately I have had to attend with the SVA National Standard many funerals of young servicemen from the North East who have been killed whilst on duty in Afghanistan, many from our local area.  When these sad times come, I would like, if at all possible, SVA members to forward their names to me so that I can ask them to attend these sad occasions.  It means so much to these servicemen's families when they have a large turn-out of people who want to pay their respects.  It makes the parents feel so proud when so many ex servicemen turn up wearing their berets and medals.
Thank you. Bill Lowe.
