SVA Area 3, South Yorkshire, held their Christmas Lunch on 11th December at the Gaskell's Restaurant, Wakefield.
Rod Bolmer sent these photos taken at the event.

The Area also visited the Search and Rescue Training Squadron at RAF Valley on 1st October.

Approx 90 members and guests of the Sussex Branch of the SVA held their Christmas lunch at the
Langham Hotel, Eastbourne on the 16th of November 2012.

On Sunday 11th November
after the Remembrance Service and Parade at the National
Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas
Patrick Kelly laid a
wreath at the Suez Memorial on behalf of the Derby and
District SVA Branch and Richard Woolley acted as
escort.

Scotland Group outing.
On Wednesday 17
October 2012, the Scotland Group visited the Riverside
Museum and Tall Ship in Glasgow.
We saw railway
engines, tramcars, motor cars, motor cycles, models of ships
and many other interesting displays to remind us of
Glasgow's industrial past.
The excellent
audio-visual information enhanced many exhibits.
There was time
for a meal and a chat in the restaurant.
There is adequate car parking, or you can catch the No 100
bus from outside the tourist office at George Square.
This is directly opposite the Queen Street railway station
or a 10 mins walk from the Buchanan Street main bus station.

The Dave Powis Seat
On Thursday 20th September Jan Powis and her sons had a seat dedicated to Dave at the 'Living Memorial' site which is set in the
beautiful grounds of Whitehouse Farm in Rettendon, Essex.
For many years Dave was a very popular and active member of the Association.

On Saturday 22nd September some members of the Derby and District Branch of the SVA with other invited guests attended the
Rolls Royce Heritage Trust Building in Derby for a Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for the Battle of Britain.

On 15 August, a party of Suez Veterans from Area 21 Scotland visited Loch Lomond.
After a convivial lunch in the Tullie Inn, they boarded the Silver Dolphin for a cruise.
The weather deteriorated and the loch became choppy. Mallish, the on-board commentary highlighted the places
of interest on the bonnie banks and all the group appeared to have enjoyed their day.

members Tony Tolan, Richard and Liz Woolley managed to arrange a meeting with them at the service station.
Although the stop was for only half an hour they were able to have a good chat, exchange gifts and have photos taken.

Bill Lowe, the SVA Standard Bearer, with some other Suez Vets took part in the Sunderland Military Tattoo.

they were greeted on arrival by SO2 Maj (Retd) Niall Archibald MBE and Garrison RSM Colin McCormack, who accompanied them on a tour of the Castle.
They also saw the Honours of Scotland, viz the Crown, Sceptre and Sword of State plus the Stone of Destiny (won't tell you where the real one is hidden).

The Lincs and Notts Area (5) recently enjoyed an outing to 'Mrs Smith's Cottage Museum' at Navenby.

Inauguration of the London and South East Group's Suez Veterans Association Memorial Plaque
at the Lazybones Living Memorial in Retterdon,Essex, on Wednesday 25th April 2012.
Although the weather was awful about 80 people turned out to take part. An avenue of 25 trees have been planted with plaques
containing the names of those who lost their lives in the Suez Canal Emergency.
There is also a bench with two plaques naming the children who died in the Canal Zone.
The Shoeberyness Artillery Association sounded the two minutes silence with their six man team and twenty-five pounder field gun.
John Norman recited the Tribute, Monty paraded the SVA Branch Standard and Roy Wilson sounded the Last Post on a bugle.
